My Jo Malone Experience

Hi guys! I’m so sorry I haven’t uploaded in so long, (I’m pretty sure I start every post saying that haha!). Today I went birthday shopping as my it’s my 18th birthday on Sunday and my mum wanted to buy me a nice gift, I decided to go for a Jo Malone cologne as I have been dreaming of owning one for so long, so why waste an opportunity?
When we walked into the Liverpool 1 store located in the Metquarter, we were greeted by a lovely woman, Emma who looked after us while looking for the perfect fragrance. For years I have wanted to get the classic Pomegranate Noir, however my two friends have got this specific smell, so I wanted to be different and expand my options.

There are six categories that Jo Malone London offer, Citrus, Fruity, Light Floral, Floral, Spicy and Woody. I purchased the Peony & Blush Suede cologne in the 100ml bottle (£82) which falls into the floral category, which I was suprised about, as I never normally go for floral scents however I knew I wanted this scent as soon as I smelled it, it smells like red apples! This is it’s top note, so which you smell first, then peony, then suede, fabulous! The assistant noticed I took a particular interest in this Jo Malone cologne and offered me and my mum a free hand and arm massage, one arm with our favorite fragrance, and the other arm with a scent she thought would perfectly complement it. I was given the Nectarine Blossom & Honey cologne.

Before the treatment started, I was given a complimentary jewelry bag to put my ring inside while she carried out the treatment saying they are perfect for travelling with. Emma then cleansed my skin with a soapy lather, after asking if I am more of a shower or bath person, to which I responded shower, this left my skin smelling and feeling great. After queering my moisturising routine, cream or lotion, I use creams, she used the two different scents on each arm which made my skin feel amazingly silky. After this she then sprayed the two fragrances on different arms and let me wait until they settled into the skin, to which all of the notes of Peony & Blush Suede and Nectarine Blossom & Honey came through. She then carried out the same treatment on my mum with her personalised choice of fragrance.
I chose the Peony and Blush Suede scent and they packaged the cologne beautifully.

We were then informed of an event happening on the 21st May in the Metquarter store where it is specific to the new limited edition line which after popular demand, has hit the shelves again, ‘Blue Skies & Blossoms‘. In my opinion, the Plum Blossom cologne is my favorite out of the three, which also includes Sakura Cherry Blossom and Osmanthus Blossom cologne. These all have coloured packaging to match the fragrance. We got signed up to come along and I can’t wait!

Before leaving, we were both given two Jo Malone London samples, Lime Basil and Mandarin, their signature fragrance and Red Roses, which top note is lemon which makes the scent so incredibly unique.

Overall I had such a fantastic experience at Jo Malone London I want to stress to everyone to visit your local store and they treat you like royalty, seriously. Thanks to the Liverpool team for looking after us! What a great birthday gift.

Whats your favourite Jo Malone fragrance? I’d love to know so leave a comment and don’t forget to like! Love you all. x

Beauty | Night time Routine

Hey everyone! I am so obsessed with seeing bloggers/vloggers different routines they do either at night or in the morning. Well today I am going to share my night time routine with you all. Enjoy!

So before I start all the skin care/pampering side of the night, I first decide to wind down with a mug of green tea, I am loving Tetley’s pomegranate green tea at the moment, (it is also great alongside breakfast too). I used to be a total coffee head, I would drink about 6-7 cups a day! I would regularly get headaches and struggle to fall asleep. I have completely cut that out of my diet and switched to green tea!☕️

After cleansing my skin, I then hop in the shower/bath. I have recently discovered the Loréal Hair Expertise shampoo and conditioner for coloured hair. This is amazing and leaves the hair looking so silky and soft. I am forever switching up my shampoo and conditioner and never being able to find the right one as I suffer with quite a sensitive scalp, but this is definitely my ‘go to’ hair products now.

If I am getting a regular shower I tend to use a normal shower gel, I have used ‘Our Moment by One Direction’ as an example as I am forever reaching out for this, not only because I am 100% obsessed with them, but because it is a genuinely lovely scent, (the perfume is amazing too). If I am getting a bath, I, without fail, use a Lush product because let’s face it, they’re the BEST. I have shown the magic wand bubble bar which you just swish around your bath for some really creamy bubbles, it also taste like sweets, winning!

After my bath/shower I sometimes apply some argon oil in my hair to soften then ends of my hair, I don’t tend to put this on my scalp as if my hair isn’t straightened, looks greasy to look at. But as my hair is dyed at the ends, I like to keep is as healthy and nourished as possible.

To keep my skin smooth and smelling great, I then coat my skin in Soap&Glory’s The Righteous Butter as this formula is so smoothing and creamy and also non sticky.

And then, as everyone should, brush my teeth with Colgate Max Fresh. I have braces so brushing is very important!

I then move on to my skin. To wash it I use Simple’s Oil Balancing Exfoliating Wash about 2-3 times a week. If you have oily skin, remember it is just as important to exfoliate than if you have dry skin, as this strips off the excess sebum which is resting on the surface of your skin. I then move onto Simple’s refreshing facial wash, this seems to give me a really smooth finish and brightens up my skin after application. The reason I use so many Simple products is because I have acute redness on my face, especially on my cheeks, so I need to make sure I am not using anything too harsh or drying.

(If I have been wearing make up all day this would be my first step, however if I am not I would tend to do this at this stage). I use the Garnier’s Micellar Water to cleanse my skin of all the impurities and yucky stuff which has built up throughout the day. This is such an amazing product and I have recommended it to all my friends and family.

I then move onto toner, I use the Lush’s Tee Tree Water which tightens and hydrates the skin, I now swear by this! I know so many people who don’t tone, many don’t know the benefits of toning their skin, toning morning and night helps keep a youthful look as toning is basically the tightening of the skin, so it’s like a pain free facelift right? It’s amazing.

Another Simple product? Duh. And also oil balancing. This is the Oil Balancing Moisturiser which smooths the skin out so much, being oil balancing it doesn’t leave the skin feeling greasy and sticky when you’re lying on your pillow. At first I was skeptical to use this of a night in case it works by blocking the pores which could cause breakouts, but this is such a fantastic product and another product I swear by, (and cheap too!).

And to finish off my skin care, I apply No7’s Protect and Perfect eye cream, you literally only need a grain sized amount of this and it does wonders, I suffer with dark circles and puffiness so the light reflecting pigments in this makes me look like I have had at least a decent nights sleep. (Little tip, pop your eye cream in the fridge for an even more intense feel on the eyes).

And that’s it! I then hop into bed and read a book or FaceTime my friend Cassie (An Unorganized Life) or just scroll like a robot through my various social networking feeds.

It’s been so much fun making this and I would LOVE to see your morning/nighttime rituals guys! Thanks for reading. x

Lifestyle | My Christmas Weekend Routine

IMG_1037 (1)

Hey guys! 4 sleeps until Christmas? Time flies too fast. I thought it would be super fun to tell you all my festive routine, Christmas Eve, Boxing Day and Christmas Day. I don’t know about you, but I find hearing other people’s stories and traditions is so interesting so I am going to tell you about my three day festive adventures. Enjoy!

Christmas Eve
It is always the family tradition that we host the Christmas Eve party. this is our opportunity to give presents to family who we won’t be seeing Christmas day like cousins, aunties, uncles etc. We also get a lot of family friends coming round to join in the festivities with us. It is so much fun getting excited about Christmas with the whole family, especially when there are little children who are also hyped up with the house being full of loud conversation. Food and drink is shared, my Dad puts on the best spread. We don’t leave it too late as people want to get to bed early ready for the next day. I get into my Christmas Eve pyjamas and we watch Christmas movies and drink hot chocolate until it’s time to go to bed.

Christmas Day:
Everybody’s favourite day (of course). I start the day by waking up (stupidly early), waking my older brother up then we open our stockings on my parents bed, it’s probably our cutest tradition. We then head downstairs to a very confused doggy and head to the living room, our  presents are put into piles and we all sit by where our own  is. A lot of family’s open their presents at the same time, however it has always been our tradition to take it in turns and watch each other open our gifts. After that’s over we have our Christmas breakfast, my favourite, eggs benedict, yum!
After that I get dressed and ready for the day, I usually change into clothes I got for Christmas, something very comfortable as I know I will be eating far too much later.
My Nan, Granddad, Sister, Niece and my Dad’s friend come over for the huge Christmas dinner. After hours of eating, cracker pulling and singing Christmas carols, the visitors leave and then the worst part about Christmas day, washing up, boooo!
I then put away all of my presents and slob out regretting eating so much.

Boxing Day
To some, boxing day isn’t much of a special day, however for my family, it is called ”party day”. Everybody goes to my Auntie’s house in the afternoon where there is a buffet and music and we all sit around chatting about the previous day and saying thank you for gifts/cards. It is tradition that we all play charades in the living room, and if one person gets too drunk it is the funniest thing watching them play. The party normally goes on quite late and there are a lot of drunks by the end. But it is such fun.

So that’s it! sorry if this wasn’t your kind of blog post, but hopefully some of you share the same fascination with me finding out what people do during their festive weekend. Do you share some of my family’s traditions? If so leave your comments down below.

Thanks for reading guys! x

Beauty | Christmas Party Make Up Look

Hey guys! Feels like I haven’t done a blog post in like 10000 years, so I thought it fit best to do a Christmas party make up look. This is a simple golden smokey eye you can easily achieve for your upcoming Christmas party or even save it for New Years! Lets get started.

collage primer

I use the Maybelline’s Dream Smooth Primer

collage concealer

I use Maybelline’s Fit Me Concealer under my eyes and any blemishes I may have. To create a smooth, airbrushed finish I use the Real Techniques Foundation Brush to blend.

collage foundation

Using the Real Technique’s Expert Face Brush I apply Rimmel’s Match Perfection Foundation in the shade Porcelain.

collage powder

(My savior in a tub). Rimmel’s Stay Matte Powder helps matte my oily skin complexion and also set my base make up.

collage contour

I use my Sleek Contour Kit and define my cheekbones, forehead and jawline with my Real Technique’s Contour Brush (using the Detailer Brush for my nose). I then blend in the harsh lines with the Buffing Brush to create more naturally chiseled features.

collage eyebrow

The Body Shop’s Brow and Liner Kit is what I use for my eyebrows. Using a MAC 266 brush, I fill in the beginning area of my brow, going in upward strokes in the direction of my brow hairs, I then outline the top of the arch and go down towards the bottom of the brow, I then fill in the triangular area that’s left over and I have fuller looking, arched brows in no time.

collage colour tattoo

To give a base to my eyes, I am using Maybelline’s Color Tattoo in On and On Bronze. I then use a large fluffy brush to blend.

collage golden pigment

I then follow with a golden pigment all over my lids, again blending with a large fluffy brush.

collage dark crease

To define my crease, I use a dark brown matte eye shadow using an MUA Pallet Matte. And you guessed it, blend with a large fluffy brush.

liquid linerthe falsies

I then finish off the eyes with a small amount of Collection’s Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner and Maybelline’s Volum Express The Falsies Mascara.

collage final eyes

Here are three lipstick looks I used for this look, the first is Apocalip’s Lip Lacquer in Celestial. Max Factor’s Colour Elixir in Ruby Tuesday and Rimmel’s Lasting Finish Lipstick in Starry Eyed.
Which look is your favorite? Let me know down below.

Beauty | Dermalogica’s Cleansers

Another Dermalogica post Lauren? Indeed it is. (This post is not sponsored, I am just crazy about Dermalogica products!).
Cleansing my skin is probably one of my favourite times of the day, because I know how good and important they are in an every day skin routine. I use the Garnier’s Miceller Water on a daily basis, but when I am doing my beauty training, we specialise with Dermalogica products.
I am going to be writing about the cleansers I use in the salon and why you should dash to the shops and purchase one now!

This is not an essential product to be in your skin routine so don’t panic if you skip this step. This is part of Dermalogica’s ‘double cleanse’ routine and this is used to really sink deep into the skin, removing everything by lifting off any impurities leaving it completely naked for the second cleansing solution to be applied. This product contains nuts so not good for any nut allergies I’m afraid, it is very greasy to the touch and will scare off anyone with oily skin (this is coming from personal experience) however when removed with sponges and water, the other cleanser which you then apply will truly clean your skin to perfection. After using for a while this will start to prevent any breakouts as when locked in with a moisturiser, will not allow any leftover make up to irritate the under layers of the skin and leave it super cleansed and lovely.

Buy it here

Essential Cleansing Lotion
This is absolutely perfect for dry skin, as this is a creamy consistency and keeps the moisture levels of the skin balanced. Those who suffer from flaky skin will notice the silk like skin they will posses after using this product (especially after exfoliating with Dermalogica’s Daily Microfoliant).

Buy it here

UltraCalming Cleanser
I use this as I have sensitive skin. As in the name, this calms sensitive skin with it’s gel/creamy formula so is perfect for those of you who want to convert from naughty facial wipes to a cleansing solution, this will soften the damaged surface of the skin without using harsh chemicals.

Buy it here

Special Cleansing Gel
To use for all skin types (although those with sensitive skin are best using the UltraCalming as this foams when lathered and could irritate the surface). This balm mint and lavender infused gem is a simply all round great cleanser, does the job of washing away the make up and build up of the environment out of your skin and leaves you refreshed and purified.

Buy it here

Every Dermalogica product is water soluble, so for all the above cleansers, you apply to a dry face, rub in, then apply water to your hands and lather, repeat this until you are satisfied your face is squeaky clean, rinse off or use wet sponges when you are done. Lock in with a toner and moisturiser and you will have the best skin in town! x

Beauty | Hairstyle for short hair

Just a quick post on how I did my hair this morning, I find it super difficult to create styles which stand out due to having short and curly hair. I decided to go for a simple fish tail braid starting from a side parting then pinned up to the side. It took me years to learn how to do a fish tail but enough repeating a YouTube tutorial I finally got into the swing of things. All you have to do it section a chunk of hair in two, grab a small section from the outside of one, then bring it into the middle and add it to the other section of hair. Do this to the other section and so on until you have a fish tail! I think this is such a cute and stylish way to do your hair when you have both short and long hair, (the ombré look also extenuates the fish tail). x

Lifestyle | Sweater Weather Tag

sweater weather tag

As the nipping cold weather is drawing in I thought it would be fun to do the ‘Sweater Weather’ tag as I have never done a tag before and what better one to start off with? Let’s go!

1. Favourite candle scent?
I’m actually not that fussy when it comes to scents to be honest, but my all time favourite is definitely Yankee’s ‘Clean Cotton’. I am not a fan of the Christmas smells which come out around this time of year as I absolutely hate cinnamon which is a shame as this is my favourite time of year.

2. Coffee, Tea or Hot Chocolate?
As I have mentioned in a previous blog post, I am a coffee fiend! Americano, Latte, Cappuccino, you name it, I like it. I do love the occasional Hot Chocolate during this time of year though.

3. What is te best Autumn/Winter memory you have?
Probably every Christmas I have spent with my beautiful family. Every family has their traditions as do we. We open our stockings on my parents bed, then go downstairs to open the rest of our gifts. Then the family comes round for a huge Christmas dinner which pops our buttons every year!

4. Which make-up trend do you prefer? Dark lips or Winged eye liner?
Can I say both? Together I think they make the perfect pair, especially in Autumn/Winter

5. Favourite fragrance for Autumn/Winter?
I don’t usually buy a specific perfume to fit the season, I like ‘Alien’ by Thierry Mugler which is a nice musky scent. Primark has also come out with the ”I love” range which was previously in Ethel Austin’s which have a gorgeous coconut and vanilla body spray which smells so delicious.

6. What is your most worn sweater?
I am forever wearing my Primark pink oversized sweater which one of my friends refers to as his ‘Grandma’s bathroom rug’ but I don’t care because it’s so cosy!

7. Hats or Scarves?
Can I say both again? If I had to choose between the two I would say scarves, as I have short and curly hair, sometimes my hair doesn’t sit right in a hat. But I love bobble hats and beanies!

8. Favourite Autumn/Winter nail polish?
I love OPI’s ‘Lincoln Park after Dark” as this is a vampy purple (boarder line black) is perfect for when the nights are getting darker. I also love Barry M’s ”Caramel” in the matte range for when it’s the day time.

9. Skinny jeans or Leggings?
Leggings all year round for sure! I think purchasing a couple of pairs of good quality leggings is really important for me as I wear them with everything. I do think skinny jeans are really pretty too.

10. Boots or Uggs?
Boots! I love boots and I have many pairs, they can be dressed up or dressed down. Chelsea boots are one of my personal faves.

11. Favourite thing about Autumn/Winter?
Christmas of course!

12. Songs that get you in the Autumn/Winter spirit
All I want for Christmas is you – Mariah Carey, The Hot Chocolate song (The Polar Express) and Little Drummer Boy – Bing Crosby and David Bowie. So yeah, all Christmas songs!

So that’s it, I hope I haven’t missed any out. I challenge everyone who reads this to answer all the questions above, I had so much fun writing this. Thanks for reading! x

Lifestyle | Friends

PicMonkey Collage

”Friends are the Family we choose for Ourselves”

Unfortunately this blog post isn’t about the hilarious sit-com about a bunch of mates who live in NYC, this is about how important your friends are in your life.
I adore my friends, quite frankly I would go insane without them! Yes I have had my fare share of fallings out with people, which is completely normal as you should be allowed to remove any negativity which is presented to you.
You should be surrounding yourself with people who you feel 100% yourself around, people who make you laugh and who are there for you when you cry. I can wear no make up and slouch around with my friends and there is no doubt in my mind that they do not love me any less than when I do.
I can’t stress enough how important making friends is, and with everybody too, because when you are immediately nice to someone, they will be nice back, and if they’re not, don’t stop being nice, because while you are making yourself happy, they are just creating more problems for themselves.
Friends can be found in the most unobvious places, such as the local gym or pub, not just the classroom or work. I attend jam nights with my friends almost three times a week and the amount of people I have met doing so is ridiculously amazing. Many people believe you should only be friends with people who fit in with you such as your fashion, music taste or the course you have taken at school, but this is so untrue! Yes make friends with all of them people but also make friends with the people who are the complete opposite to you, you will be surprised with how interesting someone can be if you are nothing like them (and vice versa).

The best way to attract people is to just smile. It’s in our nature to enjoy the company of those who possess positivity so therefore if someone sees you smiling and making conversation, they will immediately want to be friends with you.
Learn their names, psychologists have discovered that you will be liked and appreciated more if you use someone’s name in a conversation as this shows interest and warming to the receiver.

”You want Quality apposed to Quantity”

You would rather surround yourself by two extrordinary people than 20 people who you are not fully happy being with.

I am living in Australia next year with one of my best friends Cassie (Go check out her blog here) and we are so excited! To be able to put your trust and love into someone so much as to move to a different country with them for 365 days is absolutely bonkers, but so worth having people like that in your life. I also have another best friend Chloe who I have known since I was five years old and we still haven’t got sick of each other, and to this date, we have never had an emotional break up. That’s another slice of advise I give, stay in contact with people from childhood or on holiday (I met my Scottish girl called Niamh in Cyprus 2013 and we have talked to each other every day since and even go and visit each other’s countries). Being able to be friends with people with different backgrounds, beliefs, abilities is an amazing gift to have, some people are not so open minded. We live our every day lives with different people than us, but we all share one thing, the desire to make friends with amazing people who you can love like brothers/sisters, so go and make someone’s day by complimenting them, going for a meal or simply saying hello! x
